The world's most-tuned hatchback
No car has a deeper aftermarket than the fast Golf. The EA113 cars (Mk5 GTI, Mk6 R) built the K04 era; the EA888 took over from the Mk6 GTI onwards and now defines hot-hatch tuning: a Mk7 R takes a map to 400hp, an IS38 swap turns a GTI into an R-chaser, and DSG software transforms how any of them drive. Whichever generation you run, the path is proven ten thousand times over - the only real rule is don't mix PQ35 and MQB parts.
The proven upgrade path
Golf GTI & R - frequently asked
Do parts interchange between generations?
Within a platform, extensively: Mk5 and Mk6 share PQ35 hardware; Mk7, 7.5 and most of Mk8 share MQB. Across the platform divide, almost nothing interchanges - the sidebar filter keeps listings to your generation.
GTI or R - is the hardware different?
The engines are closely related but the R adds 4MOTION, different turbos (IS38 on Mk7) and different exhausts. Intakes, intercoolers and much of the chassis catalogue fit both - each listing specifies.
What's an IS38 swap?
Fitting the Mk7 R's factory turbo to a GTI - a bolt-on that supports around 350-380hp with fuelling and a proper map. One of the best value power-per-pound upgrades in the VAG world.
Do you offer ECU tuning in-house?
Yes - Stage 1-3 and custom ECU mapping are done fully in-house. We don't currently offer parts fitting, but we're happy to advise on your install.
