The smart-money six-cylinder
Before the M140i there was the N55 - and a decade on, the M135i and M235i are the smart money in the fast BMW world. The single twin-scroll N55 takes a map to around 380hp, Stage 2 hardware to 400+, and the chassis parts bin is shared with every other F2x, so upgrades are plentiful and cheap. It's the same rear-drive recipe as the later cars at two-thirds of the price.
The proven upgrade path
M135i & M235i - frequently asked
Do M135i and M235i parts interchange?
Yes - same F2x platform, same N55 drivetrain. Only body-specific items (cat-backs, some trim and styling) differ; each listing states which bodies it covers.
Will M140i/M240i (B58) parts fit my N55 car?
Chassis-side, yes - suspension, brakes, diffs and most styling are shared across all F2x cars. Engine hardware is not: N55 and B58 use different downpipes, intakes, charge pipes and maps. Check the engine code on every listing.
Is the 2019+ F40 M135i covered here?
No - the F40 M135i xDrive is a four-cylinder, FWD-based car on a different platform. Nothing on this page fits it. A dedicated F40 page is on the way.
Do you offer ECU tuning in-house?
Yes - Stage 1-3 and custom ECU mapping are done fully in-house. We don't currently offer parts fitting, but we're happy to advise on your install.
