Why the F8x is the tuner's M car

Between 2014 and 2021 the F8x generation carried the M division through its first full turbo era. The S55 - a closed-deck twin-turbo straight six - responds to hardware like few engines before it: bolt-ons and a map take a 425hp car comfortably past 550, and the chassis takes the extra without complaint. That's why the F8x is one of the most heavily supported tuning platforms on sale today.

Stage 1
Map only on stock hardware. The S55 picks up ~60-80hp on pump fuel - the best £-per-hp on the platform.

Stage 2
Downpipes, chargecooler/heat exchanger upgrade and a matched map. Where most fast-road builds settle.

Cooling & control
Track use exposes the stock heat exchanger and diff cooling. CSF/Wagner cooling plus arms and coilovers keep it consistent.

F8x - frequently asked

Do F80, F82 and F87 parts interchange?

Mostly, yes - the F80 and F82 are near-identical mechanically, and the S55-powered M2 Competition/CS shares engine hardware with both. Exceptions (exhausts by body style, N55-engined original M2 parts) are called out in each product's fitment notes.

Which parts fit the original N55 M2?

Chassis parts - suspension, brakes, aero, wheels - fit all F87s. Engine-specific hardware (intakes, downpipes, charge pipes, tuning) differs between the N55 M2 and the S55 Competition/CS: filter by "F87 M2 / Comp / CS" in the sidebar and each listing states its engine code.

What's the best first mod for an F8x?

A Stage 1 map. The S55 gains roughly 60-80hp on stock hardware - the best value on the platform. After that: downpipes and cooling, then suspension to match.

Do you offer ECU tuning in-house?

Yes - Stage 1-3 and custom ECU mapping are done fully in-house. We don't currently offer parts fitting, but we're happy to advise on your install.
